Why did you start your apprenticeship with Komatsu?
I wanted to do something different and thought electrics would be an interesting career path. I did a pre apprenticeship during school and loved it, so I decided to apply to Komatsu and was lucky enough to get the job.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the hands-on aspect of the job the most, I love being able to complete a machine build start to finish and have the satisfaction of seeing it leave the workshop working again.
Why would you recommend a Komatsu apprenticeship for another person?
I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who enjoys critical thinking and looking for a hands-on career. The ability to be able to learn while earning money is a great privilege of doing a trade.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy snorkelling and fishing and going out to eat on my days off.
What would you say to someone considering an apprenticeship?
Don’t be afraid to give it a shot. There is a huge amount of support within Komatsu that will help see you through to the end of your apprenticeship and even beyond that.

Why did you start your apprenticeship with Komatsu?
I started my journey with Komatsu as I heard through people that their apprenticeship program was outstanding. When I did some research, Komatsu’s key values really stuck out to me in regards to looking after the team, wanting us to exceed and be the best versions of ourselves we can whilst undertaking excellent training and having great support.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The people, my team, are always willing to lend a helping hand and to support me throughout my apprenticeship. The technical side of our work keeps you interested and wanting to expand your knowledge. There are endless amounts of opportunities to learn and opportunities to grow within the business.
Why would you recommend this apprenticeship for another person?
The support I have had so far has been unmatched. To come from a previous career path that had very little support, it has been refreshing to come into such a great company that genuinely cares about their workers and has your best interest at heart.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I have just recently started motorbike riding on weekends, I’m not very good at the moment but practice makes perfect! Also spending time with my family and loved ones, enjoying a bit of me time or studying to better myself!

Why did you start your apprenticeship with Komatsu?
I chose Komatsu for my Apprenticeship because I could see they were serious about the safety of their employees, which was important in this field of work. The safety standards are consistently a priority throughout the site and in our briefings. Our reputation in the mining industry makes me proud to work at Komatsu, particularly with the support we get with our TAFE studies, and we have access to state of the art facilities, tools and equipment. My leadership team support me in my long-term goals and career pathway, helping me to keep engaged and tap into opportunities which may interest me.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Komatsu has a great workplace culture and community. There is a sense of pride and comradery from the team. I enjoy coming to work each day and learning new tasks that help me develop into a qualified mechanic. The Social aspects of things at Komatsu are amazing, whether it’s a “Go-Karting” team building day or just a BBQ with everyone for lunch, Komatsu is always focused on bringing everyone together to create some life lasting friendships and memories.
Why would you recommend this apprenticeship for another person?
I’d recommend this apprenticeship because it enables you to work within an industry that will see you through life. There’s endless possibilities and opportunities with Komatsu. Komatsu are industry leaders which means their future planning includes us. We are ahead of the game and privileged to opportunities and training as they are unfolding globally. You never know where you’re going to end up or what you’re going to be doing in/around the company.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending my 3-day weekends hooking the jet ski up to the 4WD and taking off camping around the southwest region exploring new hidden special spots with my mates.

Why did you start your apprenticeship with Komatsu?
I have always loved machinery, I grew up around it my whole life, so I thought I may enjoy also working with it. I wanted to gain more knowledge and understanding of the machinery. My goal is to be the person people want to come to if they have an issue because I can find and locate the part that needs replacing or any troubleshooting.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy most that I don’t feel like I am waking up and going to work, I am waking up and doing something I really love and enjoy. I also enjoy that every day is different, it is never the same and I am constantly learning something new.
Why would you recommend this apprenticeship for another person?
I would recommend this apprenticeship to another person because, at Komatsu, there are always more and more opportunities to gain more skills, gain more knowledge and build amazing relationships with those around you. You have constant support and guidance, Komatsu truly cares about all their employees and gives you the support you need and everything you need to be successful in your role.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going 4wding, camping and many more activities, I also enjoy just spending time at home with my dogs and fiancé, sitting on the couch watching a good movie sipping on a hot milo.
